Nicholas, Laskaris

Just switched over to nicholas after using another firm for over five years on the urging of a friend.
I was recommended to use nicholas by a friend who strongly urged me to change after he started using nicholas three years ago. I just completed my first year end and found him to be a truly amazing accountant. He is patient and makes it very easy to understand the tax and accounting issues because he sits down and goes over everything in detail line by line and also covers the implications of the planning and approach taken. My previous advisor spent 30 min and gave me an overall summary, showed me where to sign and how much taxes I owed and charged me almost twice as much. Nicholas takes the time to review everything with you allowing you to understand the tax system and your unique company issues. I bought my friend a bottle of wine to thank him for referring me. I hope this review will save you a bottle of wine! Don't be afraid to use nicholas, he is a very good accountant, very good fees and we will use him for a very long time!!

My tax situation was relatively straightforward, but there was still a fundamental error which resulted in overpaying my taxes significantly. I did my own detective work and phoned the CRA to discover this; they were very surprised that an accountant would have made this error. When I discovered this I tried to get a hold of him to make the change, but to no avail. Phone calls, emails, no response whatsoever. Possibly on vacation, but would it kill him to add an automated out-of-office reply to his email so at least we'd know when he's back and working?

Unfortunately he's already taken my money otherwise I would've left straight away. Certainly won't deal with him next year!

My wife and I have had Nick process our taxes for over 10 years now except in one instance where we wanted to try someone else and that was a huge mistake. Nick is the best accountant for our particular taxes. We very pleased with his service and with his staff. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable even offering investment advice. We consider him a true friend.

incompetent, delays after delays , never available and impossible to get a hold of. My dealings with him ended up costing me thousands in late penalties and interest Stay Away !!

Nicholas is a very thorough and pleasant professional to deal with. He takes great pride in ensuring his clients understand the financial statements and year end review process. I value being able to fully understand his presentation and I always leave his office better informed on current tax rules and my company's overall performance. While there are definitely stressful and time sensitive cycles we always find him and his staff calm, co-operative and facilitative of our meetings. We always try to be on time but we have experienced cases where even if we are late his office will try to accomodate our appointments.

Nicolas is available, perosnable and efficient. He knows the CRA rules and can apply them to best benefit his clinets. We use Nicolas for corpoarate as well as family tax and accounting matters and have never had an issue.

During tax time he is certainly busy, but that is to be expected. I have known many acocuntants as friends over the years and even talking to them at tax time is a challenge.

Lack of urgency, disrespect for deadlines, hard to contact, full of promises. Overall terrible accountant.
Delays with everything.
Things are never done on time, if done at all.
Can never contact unless you show up unannounced.
Fire him before you hire him.
It's too bad I can't choose a negative rating.
